Let’s jump into a super useful but often overlooked feature on Squarespace—adding your business information. Why Add Business Information?
Adding business information to your Squarespace site is a great way to provide visitors with all the essential details they might need to connect with you or visit your location. Depending on the template you’re using, adding this information can automatically populate your header, footer, or even a mobile information bar with your business’s key contact details.
Step-by-Step Guide to Adding Business Information in Squarespace
Step 1: Navigate to Your Settings
First, log in to your Squarespace dashboard. In the lower-left corner, you’ll see a settings icon that looks like a cog wheel. Click on that to access your website settings.
Step 2: Use the Search Function for Quick Access
Squarespace often changes its menu layout, but there’s a handy shortcut! Hit the forward slash (/) key on your keyboard to bring up the search bar. Type in “Business Information” and select it from the dropdown to go directly to the right place.
Step 3: Enter Your Business Details
You’ll see fields to enter your business name, phone number, email address, and physical location. Be sure to use a real address from the pre-populated list provided by Google to ensure it syncs correctly with the map feature on your site.
Step 4: Add Business Hours
Squarespace offers specific formats for entering your business hours, so be sure to follow these guidelines. If your business is open 24/7, or if you’re operating an online business, you might want to select “All Day” for simplicity. Copy and paste the same format across all days as needed.
Step 5: Save Your Changes
After entering all your information, click “Save.” This ensures all your details are updated and ready to display wherever needed on your site.
How to Use This Information on Your Mobile Site
One of the coolest features of adding your business information is how it integrates with your mobile site:
Mobile Information Bar: Navigate to “Website Tools” and then “Mobile Information Bar” to enable it. This will display a neat tray at the bottom of your mobile site with clickable information like your phone number, address, and business hours. It makes contacting you or finding your location a breeze for mobile users! Here’s a link to a blog post that I wrote on adding a mobile information bar to your site.
Benefits of Displaying Business Information
Improved User Experience: Visitors can easily find your contact details, making their interaction with your site more seamless.
Enhanced Accessibility: By providing direct links to call, email, or get directions, you make it easier for users to connect with you.
SEO Boost: Accurate business information helps with local SEO, especially when your address and contact details are consistent across all platforms.
Wrapping Up
Adding your business information to your Squarespace site is a simple yet effective way to make your website more user-friendly and professional. It provides visitors with quick access to your contact details and can improve your site’s usability on both desktop and mobile devices.
