Why Hide a Page?
There are several reasons why you might want to hide a page on your Squarespace site:
Declutter Navigation: Keep certain pages accessible without displaying them in your main navigation menu.
SEO Purposes: Hide specific pages from search engines to prevent them from appearing in Google search results.
Under Construction: Keep pages private while they’re still in progress.
Let’s get started on the how-to!
Step-by-Step Guide to Hiding a Page in Squarespace
Step 1: Access the Page Settings
Log into your Squarespace dashboard and navigate to the page you want to hide.
You don’t actually need to go to the page itself; just find it in the “Pages” section on the left-hand side.
Step 2: Hide the Page from Navigation
Click on the gear icon (⚙️) next to the page name to access its settings.
In the “General” settings tab, you'll see a toggle labeled “Enabled Page.”
To hide the page from your site’s navigation, simply turn off this toggle. The page will disappear from the navigation menu but will still be accessible if you share its direct URL.
Step 3: (Optional) Hide the Page from Search Engine Results
If you also want to hide the page from search engines like Google, you’ll need to change a different setting.
While still in the page settings, click on the “SEO” tab.
Scroll down until you see the option to “Hide Page from Search Results.” Toggle this setting on, then hit "Save."
This ensures that the page won’t appear in search engine results, keeping it hidden from those who might stumble upon it via a Google search.
And that’s it! You now know how to hide a page both from your site’s navigation and from search engines, depending on your needs.
When to Use These Options
For Hidden Content Accessible via Direct Link: If you have a page that you want accessible only through a direct link (like a hidden landing page or a “Thank You” page for email signups), hiding it from navigation is the way to go.
For SEO Control: If a page is private, a temporary work-in-progress, or just not ready to be public yet, hiding it from search results is a smart move.
Wrapping Up
Hiding a page on Squarespace is a quick and easy way to manage how your site’s content is presented, whether in your navigation or on search engines. Remember, you’re not deleting the page—just making sure it's hidden in the way that works best for you.
