Why Customize Your Squarespace Menu?

Squarespace is an all-in-one platform packed with features like scheduling, email marketing, donations, and more. While this is great for versatility, many users don’t need all these tools. Customizing your menu helps:

  • Declutter your dashboard: Only show the tools you actually use.

  • Improve navigation: Reduce confusion and save time finding what you need.

  • Enhance your workflow: Stay focused by removing distractions.

Step-by-Step Guide to Customizing Your Squarespace Menu

Step 1: Access the Customize Sidebar Tool

  1. Log into your Squarespace account and go to your dashboard.

  2. Look at the bottom of the menu on the left-hand side. You’ll see a gear icon for settings and a question mark for help.

  3. Right above these, you’ll find the new Customize Sidebar option. Click it to open the customization menu.

Step 2: Toggle Features On or Off

Once inside the Customize Sidebar tool, you’ll see a list of all the available menu options, such as:

  • Products and Services

  • Invoicing

  • Content

  • Memberships

  • Donations

  • Scheduling

Here’s what to do:

  • Turn Off Unused Features: Toggle off any features you don’t use. For example, if you’re not accepting donations or selling memberships, simply turn those options off.

  • Mandatory Options: Some features like Website, Analytics, Marketing, Contacts, and Finance are grayed out because they can’t be removed—for now.

Step 3: Review the Changes

After toggling off the options you don’t need:

  1. Exit the Customize Sidebar menu.

  2. Your dashboard will instantly reflect the changes, freeing up space and removing unused features.

Step 4: Reactivate Features When Needed

Need a feature back later? No problem! Simply:

  1. Return to the Customize Sidebar tool.

  2. Toggle the feature back on.

  3. Exit the customization menu, and it will reappear in your dashboard.

This flexibility means you can adjust your menu as your needs evolve without worrying about losing access to any tools permanently.

Pro Tips for a Cleaner Dashboard

  • Start Simple: Only keep the tools you use regularly.

  • Reassess Periodically: As your website or business grows, revisit the menu to add or remove features.

  • Test Functionality: Double-check that turning off a feature doesn’t impact your workflow elsewhere.

Wrapping Up

Customizing your Squarespace menu is a simple way to declutter your dashboard and focus on the tools that matter most to your business. By toggling off unused features, you can create a more streamlined and efficient workspace.
