Why Reconnect Google Drive to Squarespace?

Google recently added some required updates, which means if you use Google Drive to store data from forms or newsletters on your Squarespace site, you'll need to reconnect the integration. You’ll need to do this by September 23, 2024 to ensure that all your data continues to flow smoothly from Squarespace to Google Drive without any interruptions.

Step-by-Step Guide to Reconnecting Google Drive

Step 1: Log into Google Drive

  • First, head over to Google Drive and log in using your Gmail account. I recommend using Google Chrome as your browser for this, as it makes the process a bit smoother. If you’re already logged into Chrome, just type in “drive.google.com” and make sure you’re logged into the correct account.

Step 2: Access Google Drive Settings

  • Once you’re in Google Drive, click on the settings gear icon in the top right corner. From there, select ‘Settings’ and then go to ‘Manage Apps’ on the left-hand side.

Step 3: Disconnect Squarespace from Google Drive

  • Scroll down until you find Squarespace listed under your connected apps. Click on the options next to Squarespace and select ‘Disconnect from Drive’. This will disconnect all your forms, newsletter blocks, and other Squarespace features that were connected to this Google Drive account.

Step 4: Reconnect Squarespace to Google Drive

  • Now, head back over to your Squarespace website. You'll need to go through each form block or newsletter block that was previously connected to Google Drive and manually reconnect it.

Step 5: Reconnect Each Form or Newsletter Block

  • Go to your homepage or any other page where you have a form. Click ‘Edit’ to enter edit mode, then click on the form block you want to reconnect. Click the pencil icon to edit the form, go to ‘Storage’, and then ‘Additional Storage’. Click ‘Connect’ next to Google Drive and follow the prompts.

Step 6: Follow Google’s Reconnection Prompts

  • Google will ask you to confirm which Google account you want to connect. Follow the steps, allowing the necessary permissions. After connecting, name your Google Sheet where the form submissions will be saved. For example, if it's a contact form on your homepage, you might name it “AWD Home Page Contact”.

Step 7: Repeat for All Forms and Blocks

  • Repeat the process for each form or block you need to reconnect to Google Drive. Remember, each time you reconnect, Squarespace will create a new Google Sheet in your Drive. If you want to consolidate this data, you can always copy and paste information from one sheet to another.

Important Tips

  • Act Fast: Make sure to reconnect your Google Drive by September 23, 2024, to avoid losing any form or newsletter submissions.

  • Keep Things Organized: Name your new Google Sheets clearly so you can easily find and manage them later.

  • Check Your Connections: After reconnecting, test each form to ensure the data is being correctly stored in your new Google Sheets.

Wrapping Up

And that's all there is to it! Reconnecting your Google Drive to your Squarespace site is a straightforward process, but it's crucial to make sure everything is set up correctly to make sure that your form submissions continue to populate in your Google Sheet.
