How to Change the Size of Your Blog Post Titles in Squarespace

Have you ever looked at your blog post titles and thought, “This is way too big” or “This looks way too small”? Adjusting the size of your blog post titles can make your site more visually appealing, but it’s important to do it the right way so you don’t accidentally harm your SEO rankings. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to change your blog post title size step-by-step while ensuring your site remains SEO-friendly.

Why Is This Important?

Your blog post titles are set as H1 headers, which are critical for SEO. Search engines use H1 tags to understand the structure and importance of your content. While it’s tempting to simply change the header level to something smaller, this can negatively impact how search engines view your page. Instead, we’ll adjust the size visually while keeping the H1 tag intact for optimal SEO performance.

Step-by-Step Guide to Changing Blog Post Title Size

Step 1: Access the Blog Post You Want to Edit

  1. Log into your Squarespace dashboard and navigate to the Blog Page.

  2. Click on the blog post you want to edit.

Step 2: Open the Site Styles Panel

  1. Once inside the blog post, click on the Site Styles tool, represented by the paintbrush icon.

  2. In the Site Styles panel, click the arrow next to Fonts.

Step 3: Locate the Blog Post Title Settings

  1. Scroll through the font settings until you find the section labeled Blog Post.

  2. Look for the Title settings under the Blog Post section.

Step 4: Change the Title Size

  1. By default, the title is set to the Heading Font (H1).

  2. To customize the size without changing the H1 tag:

    • Switch the Style from Heading to Custom.

    • Scroll to the bottom of the font options and find the Size slider.

  3. Adjust the slider to increase or decrease the title size. For example:

    • Slide down for smaller titles.

    • Slide up for larger, bolder titles.

Step 5: Save Your Changes

Once you’ve adjusted the size to your liking, click Save to apply the changes. The H1 tag remains intact, ensuring your blog post is still SEO-optimized.

Why Keep H1 Tags for Titles?

Headers like H1s signal the importance of a page’s content to search engines. Changing the title size through styling rather than altering the header level ensures:

  • Your blog post titles maintain their SEO value.

  • Search engines continue to prioritize your posts based on their structure.

Wrapping Up

And that’s all there is to it! Changing the size of your blog post titles in Squarespace is quick, easy, and completely SEO-safe when done the right way. A well-sized title not only improves your website’s appearance but also ensures your content gets the visibility it deserves.
