Why Duplicate Pages in Squarespace?
Duplicating pages is a huge time-saver when you need multiple pages with similar layouts or content. For example:
Product Pages: If every product page has the same structure but unique details.
Service Pages: When offering multiple services with a consistent format.
Portfolio Pages: For showcasing projects in a uniform design.
Step-by-Step Guide to Duplicating a Page
Step 1: Access Your Pages Menu
Log in to your Squarespace dashboard.
Navigate to the Pages section of your site.
Step 2: Select the Page to Duplicate
Hover over the page you’d like to copy.
Click the gear icon (⚙️) to open the page settings.
Step 3: Duplicate the Page
Scroll to the bottom of the General Page Settings tab.
Click Duplicate Page.
Confirm your action when prompted. Squarespace will create a new page with the same layout, content, and settings as the original.
Step 4: Rename and Update the New Page
The duplicated page will appear with the original name followed by “Copy.” Click the gear icon to edit it.
Update:
Page Title: The new page’s title as it appears in the browser tab.
Navigation Title: What visitors see in your navigation menu.
URL Slug: The unique part of the web address for this page.
Save your changes.
Step 5: Customize the Content
Open the new page in Edit Mode.
Replace images, text, and links with content specific to the new page.
For example, update product images, descriptions, and call-to-action buttons.
Save your edits, and your new page is ready to go!
Real-World Example: Publishing Website
I use this feature for a publishing website I manage. Each book has its own page with similar sections:
A book mockup image and description.
Testimonials and author details.
Related products like merchandise. Instead of rebuilding the layout for every new release, I simply duplicate an existing book page and swap in the new content. This method has saved me hours of work!
Wrapping Up
Duplicating pages in Squarespace is one of the easiest ways to streamline your workflow. Whether you’re managing products, services, or portfolio entries, this feature allows you to replicate successful layouts and focus on what matters most—your content.
