Why Isn’t My Instagram Block Updating on Squarespace?

Have you noticed that your Instagram block isn’t showing your latest posts? It’s a common issue, especially after Instagram updates its API, which is the code that allows platforms like Squarespace to communicate with Instagram. If you’re facing this problem, don’t worry—fixing it is easier than you think. In this guide, I’ll walk you through the steps to reconnect your Instagram account to your Squarespace website.

Why Instagram Blocks Stop Updating

Instagram periodically updates its API for security and performance improvements. When this happens, your Squarespace site might lose its connection to your Instagram account. For example, Instagram has a scheduled API update on December 4, 2024, which could cause blocks to stop updating for many users. Thankfully, the solution is straightforward.

Step-by-Step Guide to Reconnecting Instagram to Squarespace

Step 1: Check the Connection Status

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account.

  2. Go to Settings > Third-Party Tools > Connected Accounts.

  3. Look for your Instagram account in the list. If it’s marked as disconnected, you’ll need to reconnect it.

Step 2: Re-Authenticate Your Instagram Account

  1. Click on the Re-authenticate button next to your Instagram account.

  2. Follow the prompts to log in to Instagram and allow Squarespace to access your account.

  3. Once completed, you should see that the connection is restored, and the status will update to show that your account is now connected.

Step 3: Refresh the Instagram Block

After reconnecting, test to make sure everything is working:

  1. Refresh your website page where the Instagram block is located.

  2. Scroll down to the block and check if your latest Instagram posts are displaying correctly.

Troubleshooting Tips

If the Instagram block still isn’t updating after reconnecting, here are a few additional steps to try:

  1. Check Instagram Settings: Ensure there are no restrictions in your Instagram account settings that prevent it from connecting to Squarespace.

  2. Verify the Correct Account: Double-check that the Instagram block is connected to the right Instagram account.

  3. Contact Squarespace Support: If all else fails, reach out to Squarespace support for assistance.

These steps should resolve the issue for most users. In rare cases, there may be additional account-specific issues that require help from the Squarespace support team.

Reconnecting your Instagram account to Squarespace is a simple process that ensures your Instagram block continues to showcase your latest posts.
